Algebra 1 is the begining or end 
of a students STEM Career

Algebra 1 for 8th Graders

What Happens First?

How we will get your child ready for the State/Regents Exam!

Week 1:

  • Observe your child’s math, literacy and critical thinking skills

  • Set a clear pacing guide for your child to complete Algebra 1 Content by June

Week 2:

  • Teacher will continue to get to know your child and their current abilities 

  • Basic algebra skills

  • Build math confidence and critical thinking skills

Week 3:

  • Gather info on where child is currently at in their math class at school

  • What topics have been covered?

  • ​Start Algebra 1 Content

Week 4:

  • ​Clear expectations for child 

  • Growth tracker completed

  • Full transparency to parents on child’s ability to pass the Algebra 1 Exam in June!

* This course is for 8th graders who are not taking Algebra 1 in their school but still want the opportunity to get the same High School Math Credit that other 8th graders are getting
